Álvaro Aranguren-Ibáñez
Senior Clinical Study & Biomarker Manager NEC Bio Therapeutics
Álvaro Aranguren Ibáñez is a translational scientist with more than 10 years of experience in biomedical research and vaccine development. He completed his academic training in Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Navarra (Spain) and subsequently conducted research at leading academic institutions, including the Centre for Genomic Regulation in Barcelona, where he focused on molecular and translational biology.
Over the past five years, his work has focused on the development of therapeutic vaccines. He first joined AELIX Therapeutics, contributing to the clinical development of a therapeutic vaccine for the functional cure of HIV. He currently serves as Senior Clinical Study Manager and Biomarker Manager at NEC Bio Therapeutics, where he supports the clinical development of AI-driven personalized cancer vaccines designed to target patient-specific neoantigens.
His experience spans translational research, clinical development, and the implementation of biomarker strategies in early-phase clinical trials, with a particular focus on advancing innovative vaccine technologies. He has co-authored peer-reviewed scientific publications and is an inventor on a patent related to immunomodulatory therapies and on a patent related to Salmonella-based DNA vaccine.
Seminars
- Following the journey of a personalized cancer vaccine from neoantigen identification and AI-driven selection through vaccine design, manufacturing, and clinical administration
- Presenting translational insights from our clinical program by integrating immune monitoring, ctDNA dynamics, radiological assessment, and serial tumor biopsies to illustrate how different biomarkers capture vaccine activity
- Discussing how combining these complementary data provides a more comprehensive understanding of treatment response and clinical benefit, highlighting current challenges and future opportunities in personalized cancer vaccination
